My hair loss is becoming really serious and I`m really worried about it,WHAT DO I DO?
(a 22 years old boy with a little extra weight, none of my relatives r bald)
1) Use proper nutrition. Lack of vitamins, minerals and protein can cause hair loss. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables and consume a balanced diet on a daily basis to prevent premature hair loss.
2) Deal with stresses in your life. The trauma of stressful situations can cause hair loss. Learn how to use coping strategies to manage and relieve stress.
3) Loosen up your hair. Hairstyles such as ponytails, braids and artificial hairstyles can cause baldness by the constant pulling and tugging of your hair follicles. Look for more relaxed styles when possible.
4) Change the method you use to style your hair. Perms and other chemicals can alter the hairs structure and cause breakage and permanent damage. Blow dryers, curling irons and other heating products can cause more damage since they are used more often.
5) Read prescription medication side effects. Before taking any new medications read the various side effects associated with it. When hair loss is listed ask your doctor about an alternative medicine that could be taken or a way to reduce your chances.
6) Keep regularly scheduled doctors appointments. Many health conditions can cause changes in hormonal balances. Visiting a doctor can make sure any illnesses and conditions that develop are treated before they cause hair loss. DOCTOR
I took Yaz several years ago, and noticed I lost a LOT of my hair. Its curly and has always shed bad, but this was a lot all the time. I don’t have bald spots or anything, and still have medium thick hair, but about 2/3 of what it was.
Yaz now has a lawsuit against it, and one of the symptoms/problems is permanent hair loss. How do I know if that’s what caused it and how would I prove it?
If you’re starting to get worried because you think you’re losing your hair or just wondering if the amount you’re losing is natural or notice your hair is thinning, this is how to tell if you are losing your hair. It takes just a few seconds.
Hair loss is a big concern for many men, women and children. There are many causes. You may know that you have rapid hair loss already or even a little loss and wonder what is causing it. Maybe you already have a patch of hair loss. You may not be sure so here’s a good way to tell if it’s abnormal or not.
Take a small handful of hair in you hand and tug it as hard as you can. If you have more than six strands of hair in your hand then you are losing hair. A natural loss would be less than six strands of hair a day.
Did you just try it? The "how to tell if you are losing your hair" test is the best home test I know to test for hair loss.
What do you do about it?
First of all try to determine if it’s related to any current medical diagnosis you have right now. Then take a look at any medications you may be taking in case it’s temporary and related to medications, medicines or drugs.
If you’re a man then male pattern baldness could be a possibility especially if you notice a receding hair line. Symptoms could be related to pregnancy if you’re pregnant. It could be a thyroid issue. If you are losing in big chunks it could be alopecia areata. There are many causes for hair loss.
In any case you’ll want to learn how to stop or prevent it. There are many ways to learn through blogs, forums and discussion groups. However one must be careful there because there is a lot of misinformation and guessing going on.
It’s always better to get medical advice from experts in the field. You may want to consult with your doctor if you’re noticing a rapid hair loss. In some cases you may want to see if your diet or your thyroid is causing it. Boosting your immune system with a plant food diet may help. Be careful of hair loss products and treatments. Some are expensive and most don’t work. Watch out for medicines and even FDA approved hair loss medications. These expensive drugs have to be taken daily for a lifetime. They are not quick fixes and come with many side effects and risks.
In any case once you have done your "how to tell if you are losing your hair" test and you know that you are losing hair you’ll want to learn how to prevent or how to stop hair loss before you lose any more of your hair.
Especially those who have experienced hair loss and made it stop.
Woman, 21.. I moved to a new climate, which is drier than where I used to live. when I lived in a humid climate, I lost a little but not near as much as now.
Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall.
1.Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow..
2. A medicine rich in sulfur is also recommended as sulfur plays an important part in the structure of the hair.
3. Massage with olive oil before going to bed at night and next morning, wash off the hair gently..
4. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea.Massage well and shampoo.
5. Beat two eggs, and add two tablespoons of water to it. Rinse hair and pour the egg mixture over the hair.Massage the scalp well and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash it.
I died my hair with a semi-permanent hair color that caused it to fall out..I know that it will take time to grow back, but will I be able to have long hair again? I also experienced some loss in my hair line along with some baby hairs, will those come back?
wow after just one dye your hair fell out? that is really weird. it usually takes dying your hair over and over again in a short amount of time to make it fall out. i am talking about some really excessive dying. I did my hair four times once in one day and it never fell out.
But dont worry! your hair is not gone forever, it will all grow back, just will take time like hair does to grow =]
Hair Loss happens to be a very common problem and it may be due to various reasons ranging from hereditary factors to medicinal side effects. But very few of us are acquainted with the fact that hair loss could be due to stressful situations in life. And in fact a good number of folks are experiencing hair loss because of living under constant stress but are ignorant of this reality. Instead of managing their stress well they opt for hair loss treatment options that hardly prove effective.
You must know that your hair are true indicator of your health condition. People who are healthy physically as well as mentally, hardly suffer from hair loss except for hereditary reasons. Their hair remain healthy with ever present shine and moisture. However people with abnormal health condition and specifically people with anxiety and distress don’t possess shiny and healthy hair. Human hair gradually become dry and dull and later on start falling.
Stress induced hair fall is medically known as Telogen Effluvium. Once you are grappled with an unexpected stress or a kind of shock, you are prone to loose your hair rapidly. Because in such conditions, hair’s capability of regeneration is nullified and it may take an year for follicles to resume their task of producing hairs.
Apart from this, diseases can make you depressed to cause hair loss. So you are needed to identify all possible reasons that push you towards stress and anxiety. Once you identify reasons you should try to make yourself strong enough to keep your calm intact even while being in those conditions.
Best way to combat this type of hair loss is to opt for relaxation techniques that bring mental peace and dissociate yourself from stress prevailing in your life. Various relaxation exercises and meditation could help you in your quest to prevent baldness resulting from hair loss.
Stress may cast some indirect repercussions on hair. While being in a stressful condition people normally lose their appetite and develop carelessness towards hair that adversely affects hair, causing hair fall. Poor diet would deprive hair from essential nutrients and vitamins that would worsen its condition marking a beginning of hair loss.
When you are in stress you develop your own idiosyncratic style of hair fiddling. This fiddling also contributes to your hair loss.
So, all you folks struggling to revive hair on your scalp should check yourself against prevalence of stress and anxiety in your life. A little awareness would save you from hair loss or baldness.

FALLING HAIR -
Does your hair fall a lot? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:
Tension
Too much work
Illness
Poor diet
Over-exposure to the sun
Perming
Amateur bleaching
Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants
Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall
Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.
Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.
A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.
Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.
Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.
Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!
ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.
A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.
VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.
VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.
COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.
Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:
Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.
Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month ¡V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.
Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.
Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.
Quick Hair Care Conditioner
Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.
Honey Conditioner
Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.
Alcohol Conditioner
Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.
Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours
ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR –
Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.
Wide-toothed comb
Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.
The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.
While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.
Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.
Leave-in conditioner
Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.
Oil
Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.
Egg
Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.
For people with hair loss, proper hair care is very important. However, not many people really know how to take good care of their hair and scalp. If you are starting to see signs of thinning hair, it is time you learn some knowledge to taking care of your hair. Let us here learn about hair loss shampoo and how it can help us with hair loss.
Shampoos are a kind of cleaning agent that contains chemical detergents and work well in cleaning dirt. There are 3 types of shampoos we can see in the market. They are either shampoo for dry hair, for normal hair, or for oily hair. Shampoos for dry hair will contain oil and as for normal or oily hair shampoo there will be no oil. It is definitely important for you to choose the right shampoo for your hair condition. Wrong use of shampoo over a period of time can cause hair loss.
Some hair loss are labeled acidic or pH balanced. That is because detergents in shampoos are alkaline and will cause hair to entangle easily. Hence acidic or pH balanced shampoos tried to balance the alkaline effect. Another group of shampoos are those that are medicated, and this is to help treat scalp issues such as dandruff, itchy scalp, or other conditions. However, such shampoos do not really help hair growth. They can only help treat scalp conditions and prevent temporary hair loss cause by these issues.
Usually those hair loss shampoos that claimed to contain lots of substances that promote hair growth are just to make the consumers feel good. In fact, shampoos can only clean hair, they cannot really nourish hair. Nourishment for the hair can only goes through bloods vessels and into the hair, hence applying anything to the surface of the scalp will not really help much.
Using shampoo is not harmful for people with hair loss. Regular use of shampoo helps to keep the scalp and hair clean. It can help male baldness by clearing and washing away androgen on the scalp, which contributes to hair loss.
The way one use shampoo determines how much one can get out of it. The first thing you need to do it wet your hair, then pour a 20 cent drop of shampoo onto your hand. Rub it between your fingers and scrub your scalp with your hands, with moderate strength. It is not correct to pour shampoo directly on the scalp as such method will clean your hair unevenly, with some parts less cleaned than others. Then rinse off thoroughly. Take note that it is not true that using more shampoo will clean your hair better. Some shampoo can clean well even if there is very little lather produced.
So, start getting the right hair loss shampoos and clean your hair the right way. You definitely can help your hair loss issue get better with proper hair care.

hair loss is usually a traumatic experience for someone who values a full head of hair. A number of different psychology elements are at play here. These range from coping with a noticeable change in appearance, dealing with the aging process, and handling self image issues due to the loss of hair.
Loss of hair can be caused by many different factors. Even though it is a studied field of human biology, scientists still do not have all the answers for hair loss and they do not have the means to successfully prevent it.
Every person loses hair every single day of their lives.
This is not a big deal for most people because the hairs that fall out are replaced by new hair growth.
People who do not experience this new hair growth need hair loss help.
The first bit of hair loss help is the good news that sometimes hairs do grow back. This is true for people who experience a medical or a chemical suppressant of hair growth. People who have certain illnesses and people who undergo chemotherapy often grow their hair back when these conditions or treatments are terminated.
The next bit of hair loss help is the good news that there are remedies available for people who do not experience natural hair regrowth.
Falling under the cosmetic category, one finds many hair loss drugs on the chemical side of the treatment spectrum, as well as herbs for hair loss on the natural or organic side of the hair loss treatment spectrum.
On the very serious side of hair loss help one can find complete hair transplants. With this type of treatment hair is implanted into the skin on the skull to cover up the bald spots.
People who have, without success, tried drugs or herbs for hair loss and do not want the hair transplant option often resort to two different solutions to cover their baldness.
The first method many people use is called the “comb over”. This is a remedy where the remaining hair is left to grow long enough so that it can be combed over the bald area to cover it.
The second method is wearing a wig or a toupee. A wig with naturally looking hair can be a very expensive item with prices into the thousands of dollars.
To some people, hair and hairstyle form an essential element of what they define as their beauty or their attractiveness. Hair loss changes their appearance and most people hate that. When hair loss visits you, you either have to consider one or more of the hair loss help items mentioned above, or you have to learn to love the new you.

Is there a way I can get some hair loss checked without health coverage? By doing some research, it looks like I’d have to consult with a dermatologist. I basically want to see whether it’s hereditary or some other health condition, and what my options are to treat it.
I know I’d probably have to end up paying out of pocket, but what would be the ideal way of seeking help?
