” Good Hair ” Documentary

When Chris Rocks daughter, Lola, came up to him crying and asked, Daddy, how come I dont have good hair? the bewildered comic committed himself to search the ends of the earth and the depths of black culture to find out who had put that question into his little girl’s head! Director Jeff Stilsons camera followed the funnyman, and the result is Good Hair, a wonderfully insightful and entertaining, yet remarkably serious, documentary about African American hair culture.An exposé of comic proportions that only Chris Rock could pull off, Good Hair visits hair salons and styling battles, scientific laboratories, and Indian temples to explore the way black hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of black people. Celebrities such as Ice-T, Kerry Washington, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven Symoné, Maya Angelou, and Reverend Al Sharpton all candidly offer their stories and observations to Rock while he struggles with the task of figuring out how to respond to his daughters question. What he discovers is that black hair is a big business that doesnt always benefit the black community and little Lolas question might well be bigger than his ability to convince her that the stuff on top of her head is nowhere near as important as what is inside.

Fantasia as well as most Gels have protein in it… This is what makes Kinky Curly Curling Custard well worth the price but when you’ll be using it daily which do you choose???

I wash at least 5 days out of the week, applying gels only on wash days. I only apply gel on soaking wet hair therefore my hair is soaked with water (this is what you do before you go swimming, presoak your hair with water so there is little room for the chlorine to soak in), before I apply other products… I always put what I call a base on first (Vegetable Glycerine by Now), then I apply the Gel. Doing it this way, I haven’t experienced any dryness or breaking.
I like them both, so I’ll be keeping one of each

These are 2 concoctions that I absolutely love. Depending on your hair type you may need to add or reduce the amounts for your hair.
My Veggie Glycerin Spray recipe ( I use this twice a day making sure to get this on my scalp)
2-4 oz. Veggie Glycerin
3-4 oz. Aloe Vera Gel
8 oz. Distilled Water
2 heaping tablespoons MSM powder
20 drops Peppermint EO
20 drops Rosemary EO
10 drops Lemongrass EO (optional, I like the smell)
Scalp Oil (I mix this in an eyedropper bottle and apply one eyedropper full to my scalp once to twice a week)
Equal parts Emu Oil, Hemp Oil, Black Seed Oil, Vitamin E oil
10-20 drops Peppermint EO
10-20 drops Rosemary EO
You can add your own carrier or essential oils but this is the basic formula that I use. Tea Tree would be a good one to add if you have scalp issues.
My hair is growing like a Weed!!! However, individual results will vary.
